A wreck dive to remember… What started as a beautiful day with great conditions and the prospect of a cool dive at a beautiful wreck turned out to be a complete (self inflicted) disaster: unravelling spools, lost shot line, stuck anchor, deranged shotline marker installation, lost position due to unrecognized current, lost team due to lack of awareness – in one word. Failure due to task overload.
Hadn’t it been for an amazing, aware and endlessly patient buddy – who knows how this could have ended.
However: taking home more learnings from one single dive day than from the 30 preceding dives combined, I was willing to call this a good thing – as soon as anger and annoyance subsided.
